OK, let’s talk about the Yves Saint Laurent YSL JUNE BOX BAG. I’ve been wanting to make a classic bag for a while, and this one caught my eye. So, I decided to give it a go and remake it myself.
First things first, I started by gathering all the materials I needed. I mean, you can’t just start without the right stuff, right? I got some nice quality leather, a sturdy zipper, thread, and all the other bits and pieces. I spent a good amount of time just making sure I had everything before diving in. I wanted to replicate that diamond-quilted stitching, so I practiced a bit on some scrap leather to get the hang of it.
Then, I moved on to cutting out the pattern. This was a bit tricky, I’m not gonna lie. I carefully measured and marked the leather, and then used my rotary cutter to get those clean edges. This YSL June Box Bag isn’t your average bag. It has this specific shape, you know? So getting the dimensions right was key.

Next up was the stitching. I decided to hand-stitch the whole thing. Yeah, it took longer, but I really wanted that handmade touch. I started with the quilted panels. I slowly and carefully stitched those diamond patterns, one by one. It was therapeutic, in a way, seeing the pattern come to life.
After the panels were done, I assembled the bag. I stitched the sides together, added the zipper, and attached the strap. Each step required focus, and I took my time to make sure everything was aligned and secure. I even added a little inside pocket, ’cause who doesn’t love a secret compartment in their bag?
The final step was finishing the edges. I carefully trimmed any excess leather, burnished the edges, and applied a leather conditioner to give it that polished look. And there it was, my very own YSL June Box Bag!

It was not perfect, but I was really proud of myself for making it from start to finish. It’s a classic style, and I think I nailed the overall look and feel. It’s definitely a bag I’ll be using for a long time.
