So, the other day, I got this wild idea to remake a Prada Galleria bag. Yeah, the Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather one. It’s a classic, you know? Always loved the look of it, but I wanted to give it my own spin.
First thing I did was to get my hands on some of that Saffiano leather. It’s not like regular leather, It’s treated and has this special texture. I learned that it doesn’t age like your usual full-grain leather, which is kinda cool. Keeps that new look longer, I guess.
I started by laying out the leather and cutting it into pieces. I measured everything out, just like the original bag, you know, the top handles, that detachable shoulder strap. I even got some gold-toned hardware to match the original design.
- Cut the leather into precise shapes.
- Assembled the pieces, which was tricky.
- Stitched everything together, piece by piece.
Then came the tricky part – assembling all the pieces. I wanted that removable leather keyring and those side snap closures, just like the real deal. The triangle leather and metal logo plaque was a must too, but that was a real pain to get right.
I stitched everything together, piece by piece. Took me ages, but I was determined to get it right. I wanted it to look like a real Prada bag, but with a little something extra, a little something from me.
Finally, after a lot of trial and error, a lot of stitching and un-stitching, it was done. My very own remake of the Prada Medium Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. And you know what? It looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.
It is a modern take on a classic style. It’s got that same classy vibe as the original, but it’s also got a bit of my own personality in it. That’s what I love about making things yourself. You get to put a little bit of you into everything you create.
And there you have it. That’s the story of how I remade a Prada bag. It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot along the way. Who knows, maybe I’ll try to make another one someday. But for now, I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out.
It was really a big job, but I’m feeling so good about myself, and I really enjoyed this project.
