So, I’ve been eyeing this Fendi Mon Tresor Mini for a while now, the one with the leather and mesh. It’s just so darn cute and seems like it would go with everything. I finally decided to try and make my own version because, let’s be honest, the real deal is way out of my budget.

First things first, I needed to gather some materials. I found this faux leather remnant at a local fabric store that looked pretty decent. For the mesh, I actually repurposed an old laundry bag. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but the mesh was the perfect size and texture. I also picked up some gold-colored hardware – a drawstring stopper, some eyelets, and a chain for the strap. I already had some basic sewing supplies at home, like thread, needles, and scissors.

Next, I started working on the pattern. This was the trickiest part, honestly. I studied a bunch of pictures of the real bag online and tried to sketch out a similar shape. I ended up making a simple bucket shape with a circular base. I cut out two pieces of the faux leather for the base and the body of the bag, and then cut out a rectangle of the mesh for the middle section.

Then came the sewing. I sewed the mesh piece to the top edge of the leather body piece, making sure to leave enough room at the top for the drawstring. I then sewed the two ends of the body piece together, to form that classic bucket shape. After that, I carefully attached the circular base to the bottom. It took a bit of maneuvering, but I finally got it all stitched together.

Now for the fun part – the details! I installed the gold eyelets along the top edge of the bag, where the drawstring would go. I then threaded a faux leather cord through the eyelets and added the drawstring stopper. This was actually easier than I thought it would be. For the strap, I simply attached the gold chain to the sides of the bag using some jump rings.

  • Sewed the body pieces together.
  • Attached the circular base.
  • Installed the eyelets.
  • Threaded the drawstring.
  • Attached the chain strap.

It wasn’t perfect, and it definitely took some time and effort. A few times I messed up and had to redo some seams, but in the end, I was pretty happy with how my DIY Fendi Mon Tresor Mini turned out! It’s definitely got that same vibe as the original, and it was a fraction of the cost. Plus, I had a blast making it. Maybe I’ll try tackling another designer bag next!

This is what I did in the process:

Gathering Stuff

Found some faux leather, used an old mesh laundry bag, and bought some gold-colored hardware.

Making the Pattern

Looked at pictures online, sketched out a bucket shape, and cut out the leather and mesh pieces.

Sewing it Up

Sewed the mesh to the leather, made the bucket shape, and attached the base.

Adding the Details

Put in the eyelets, added the drawstring, and attached the chain strap.
