Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this little project I’ve been messing with. It’s a high imitation of a Rolex GMT-Master II, but get this – it’s for lefties! Yeah, a left-handed version. I’ve been seeing these things pop up everywhere, and I figured, why not try to make one myself?
First, I started looking around for parts. I mean, you can’t just go to the store and buy this stuff, right? I found some decent parts online, nothing too fancy. You know, just to see if I could actually do it. I read a lot of stuff, watched some videos, the whole nine yards. It’s not easy as you imagine.
- Finding the right case was a pain.
- Getting the movement was tricky.
- Putting it all together, man, that was something else.
Then I got down to business. I started with the case, trying to get the crown on the left side like the real deal. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. I messed up a few times, ngl. But, after some trial and error, I finally got it right.
Next up was the movement. Now, I’m no watchmaker, but I managed to get a decent automatic movement that fit the case. Getting the hands to fit was another story. I spent hours, and I mean hours, fiddling with those tiny little things. But you know, finally I got it to work. It’s a big surprise for me.
Putting the dial and the bezel on was relatively easy compared to the rest. I found a pretty good-looking dial that said “Rolex GMT-Master II” on it, and the bezel, well, it was a ceramic one, just like the original. Looks pretty sharp, if I do say so myself.
The Final Result
After all that work, I finally finished it. And you know what? It actually looks pretty good! I mean, it’s not a real Rolex, obviously, but for a high imitation, it’s not bad at all. It keeps time pretty well, the bezel turns smoothly, and the crown winds the movement just fine. I even wore it around for a few days, and nobody seemed to notice that it wasn’t the real deal.
I’m not sure what I have done is valuable or not. But if you’re into watches and you’re looking for a fun little project, this might be something to try. Just be prepared to spend some time and money on it. And remember, it’s not going to be perfect, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
