Jaeger-LeCoultre, you know, that watch thing, JLC Reverso, is what I’m talking about, the Reverso Tribute Monoface, seen it in those fancy stores. That watch, it flips, kinda neat, I guess.
My neighbor’s son, he’s got one. He’s always showing it off. Says it’s a fancy one, a Jaeger-LeCoultre. Sounds like a mouthful to me. He says it’s worth a lot, more than my old cow Betsy. I don’t know about that. But it does look shiny.
JLC Reverso Tribute, That’s the One
This Reverso Tribute Monoface, he says, is special. Only sold in those stores where you gotta dress up to go in. Not like our general store down the road. He says it’s “exclusive.” I guess that means expensive.
He paid a whole lot for it, too. Said it was something like eight thousand, and then some more numbers. I don’t remember exactly. All I know is, that’s a lot of chicken feed. More than I make in a year selling eggs!
- Jaeger-LeCoultre, that name again.
- Reverso, it’s the kind that flips.
- Tribute Monoface, that’s the fancy one.
- Expensive, real expensive.
He said he got it before the price went up. I guess these fancy watches, they cost more and more as time goes by. Like land, you know? Always going up. Makes my head spin.
That Flipping Thing, The Reverso
So, this watch, it flips. He showed me. One side has the time, and the other is just plain. He says that’s the style. I guess if you got that much money, you can have a watch that only tells the time sometimes. Back in my day, a watch was a watch, and it always told the time.
He said it’s inspired by some old words, Latin he called it. “I turn around,” or something like that. I don’t know about Latin. I just know my chickens and my garden. But it sounds fancy, I’ll give him that.
This Reverso, it’s thin, too. Real thin. Like a piece of paper almost. Not like my old clock, the one my grandpa gave me. That one’s big and sturdy. This one, I’d be afraid I’d break it.
Big or Small, It’s Still a Watch
Now he’s saying they made it smaller. This Reverso Monoface, they made it smaller than before. I don’t know why. Maybe they ran out of metal. He says it’s a “traditional size.” Like there’s a right and wrong size for a watch.
- It flips, that’s the main thing about this Reverso.
- Thin, like a sheet of paper.
- Now it’s smaller, they say.
- Still expensive, I bet.
To me, a watch is a watch. Big, small, it tells the time. That’s all that matters. I wouldn’t trade my old clock for a dozen of these Jaeger-LeCoultre things. But I guess some folks like these fancy things.
My neighbor’s son, he likes to wear it with his suit. Says it looks good. I guess it does, in a way. But I’d rather have a good pair of boots than a watch that flips. At least boots keep your feet dry.
Special Stores for a Special Watch
He keeps going on about these specialty stores. Says that’s the only place you can get this Reverso Tribute Monoface. I guess that makes it more special, huh? Like you’re in some secret club.
I asked him, “Why not just sell it at the regular store?” He just laughed. Said it wouldn’t be the same. I don’t get it. But then again, I don’t get a lot of things these young folks do.
- Specialty stores, that’s where you get this watch.
- Makes it seem fancy, I guess.
- More expensive, probably.
- Just another watch to me.
I guess if you have the money, and you like to show off, this Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Reverso Tribute Monoface is the watch for you. Me, I’ll stick to my old clock. It might not flip, but it tells the time just fine. And it didn’t cost me a whole cow. No sir. Just my old Betsy. She was a good cow, too, even better than a JLC Reverso. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
