Remake Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001: Is the Official Flagship Store Selling Them?

Hey everyone, it’s your boy back at it again. Today, I’m tackling something a bit fancy – I’m going to try to remake the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001. Yeah, that’s the one you see on the official flagship store, the real deal. I saw it, I loved it, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” No, I’m not a professional watchmaker, just a guy with some tools and a whole lot of time on his hands.

First thing I did was stare at pictures of this watch for hours. Seriously, I probably spent more time looking at the Gondolo than I did sleeping last week. I was trying to get a feel for all the little details, the curves, the way the light hits the rose gold, you know, the important stuff. I even printed out some high-resolution images and stuck them on my wall like some kind of watch-obsessed detective.

Next, I started gathering materials. Now, I don’t have access to the same stuff Patek Philippe uses, obviously, so I had to get creative. I dug through my old boxes of junk and found some old watches that I could scavenge for parts. I also made a couple of trips to the local hardware store to grab some tiny screws, metal sheets, and some tools that I didn’t even know existed until now.

Let The Games Begin

Then came the hard part – actually starting to build this thing. I began with the case, trying to shape the metal to match the Gondolo’s elegant curves. Let me tell you, bending metal is a lot harder than it looks. I messed up a bunch of times, and there were moments when I almost threw the whole thing out the window. But I kept at it, using my printed-out pictures as a guide and reminding myself that even Rome wasn’t built in a day.

  • Shaping the case: This was a nightmare. I used a small hammer and a bunch of different pliers to try and get the right shape.
  • Creating the dial: I found an old watch face that was roughly the right size and started modifying it. I carefully painted it to match the Gondolo’s clean, classic look.
  • Assembling the movement: This was probably the most challenging part. I used parts from several different watches, and it was like trying to solve a really complicated puzzle with no instructions.
  • Putting it all together: Once I had all the pieces, I started assembling the watch. This involved a lot of tiny screws and even tinier screwdrivers. My fingers were cramping, my eyes were strained, but I was determined to see it through.

After what felt like an eternity, I finally finished. And you know what? It wasn’t perfect. It definitely didn’t look exactly like the real Patek Philippe Gondolo 7041R-001. There were some rough edges, some imperfections, but it was mine. I made it with my own two hands, and that’s something I’m pretty damn proud of.

So, there you have it. My attempt at remaking a super expensive watch. It was a wild ride, a test of my patience, and a whole lot of fun. I learned a lot about watches, a lot about working with metal, and a whole lot about myself. Would I do it again? Maybe. But for now, I’m going to enjoy wearing my homemade “Gondolo” and basking in the glory of a project completed.

This will do for now, maybe next time I’ll make a better one, but whatever, at least I got something to show off. If I can do it, you can too. Now get off your ass and go make something!
