Recently, I was looking to expand my bag collection. I decided to remake a classic: the Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Mini-Bag. I wanted to start it from scratch to really get a feel for how these bags are put together.

First, I started by gathering all the materials. This bag is known for its Saffiano leather, so I tried to source some good quality. I also needed some basic tools, like a leather cutter, needles, and thread. It wasn’t easy to find everything, but after a few trips to different stores, I finally managed to get everything I needed.

I found some information online about the dimensions of the bag. It’s pretty small, with a width of about 22 cm, a height of 13 cm, and a depth of 7 cm. I used these measurements to cut out the leather pieces. I also had to take into account the handle, it needs to be long enough to make this bag practical, right?

The next step was to start assembling the bag. I carefully stitched the leather pieces together, making sure that every stitch was neat and secure. This part took a lot of time and patience, but it was also quite satisfying to see the bag slowly taking shape. The Galleria is known for being able to hold its shape well, so I paid extra attention to make sure the structure was solid.

I found some inspiration from their Fall/Winter 2024 collection. They added some cool floral prints to the bag, so I thought, why not try that? I carefully embossed a floral pattern onto the leather. It took a lot of time but turned out great!

Finally, I finished the bag by adding the handles and some small metal details, just like the original Prada design. It was a lot of work, but I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Overall, this project took me a few weeks to complete, working on it in my spare time. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely a rewarding experience. I learned a lot about leatherworking and bag construction. It made me think about how Prada bags used to be made in Italy, but now they’re mass-produced in China. I heard that Prada bags don’t hold their value that well, but they are still made pretty good, just from materials like full-grain leather, that’s why they can last for years.

In the end, I’m pretty proud of my remade Prada Galleria Mini-Bag. It looks and feels great, and it’s a unique piece that I made with my own hands. I did the whole thing from beginning to end, and that’s the best part, to be honest. I might even try to remake other bags in the future!
